Caught...the common cold :'(

I'm sick! T.T
Down with the flu...common cold.
SO cute....!!
Haven't the slightest knowledge of how it came about...just started sniffing one day and it went on for days. :(
Anyone having the flu right now?
Still remember how during school days, someone started sneezing and sniffing and almost everyone in the class would get it at the same time. Haha.

To cheer myself (and you) up, here are some interesting facts about the flu (or common cold):

1. There is no vaccine for the common cold, since there are more then 100 different viruses that can result in a cold.

2. About 15 percent of colds are actually caused by flu viruses.

3. The patient is most contagious at days 2 to 4 of the cold.

4. Duration ranges from 2-14 days, with 7 days being typical.

5. According to the CDC, the symptoms of inhalation anthrax can mimic those of a common cold. Wow.

6. One study estimates that colds caused kids to miss 189 million school days per year and their parents 126 million days per year to care for them. Adult cold suffers like yours truly miss an estimated 150 million workdays. The total economic loss associated with the common cold in the US alone is estimated to be in excess of $20 million. (see Wikipedia)

7. In my experience, drinking LOTS of water seems to shorten the duration of the cold. I theorize that it helps your body shed viruses through your urine.
*when will I get better??*
8. The germiest jobs: teacher, accountant, banker, radio DJ, doctor, TV producer, consultant, publicist, and lawyer.

9. At one year of age children put either their hand or an object in their mouth 64 times per hour. By age four, that number is about 10 per hour.

10. The single deadliest flu pandemic in history was the Spanish flu pandemic during 1918-1919. Occurring in the three waves of increasing lethality, the Spanish flu killed more people in 24 weeks than AIDS did in 24 years. It also killed more people in one year than smallpox or the Black Plague did in 50 years.

11. The flu has been around for a loooong time. Hippocrates wrote of an illness with a description closely matching today's modern flu symptoms.

12. Walt Disney got the Spanish flu and survived. (so as to give us Mickey Mouse :D)

13. The Spanish flu killed more Americans in one year than the combined total who died in battle during WWI, WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.

14. Viruses mutate more in one day than humans did in several million years.

No idea if that cheered myself up...lol.
Only know that I hate being siiiiick. T.T

But at least I don't catch a cold every few days like some people. I only get it once every few months, or twice a year if I'm lucky. xD
*are you all right??* *heart melts*
