Food For Thought: Journal by Plan B @ Publika

Never thought I will ever write a food post but never say never. So here's the first one.

I don't believe in food reviews generally. So many times my family sees a review in the newspaper about so-and-so restaurant selling this AMAZINGLY SCRUMPTIOUS food, and it always turns out that the food is just meh. And not because we don't know how to eat too; my family loves food and is always on the hunt for good food.

Tastebuds differ.

But because I am running out of stuff to talk about (I know I haven't yet finish posting about Cambodia, but still), and also because I'm on this mission to visit nice cafes once every fortnight (I hope!), I might post about them and what I think they are worth. I'll be super unbiased about it cause nobody paid me anything (I had to pay k!)

Today's post will be on Journal by Plan B at Publika.

I've walked past this place like x1234567890 times cause B has a place upstairs where we chill sometimes, but never went in until I saw someone raving about this place somewhere online. And because B promised to belanja me nice food because I was sad the other day. :P

Le menu. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade! I should try their lemonade. :P

Damn serious in choosing food lolol I look quite derpish
The man does not need to look at the menu.
Ordered spaghetti marinara because I want a tomato-based sauce and I cannot eat beef and scrambled eggs on ciabatta toast. We shared but I was super super hungry at that time so I ate more than I used to lolol.

Le spaghetti. Sorry for the kinda blur photo, camera just WON'T focus.
Spaghetti Marinara: RM28

B and I really liked this! It was really really good that I ate a lot of it, like 3/4. The squid and prawns were huge and quite fresh. Cherry tomatoes were sweet and the tomato base was good. I only eat tomato-based pasta btw, cream-based is always too much for me to handle lol. One of the highlights of this place is its pasta, so definitely a must-try! :D

Toast is hiding at the bottom of the eggs
Scrambled eggs on ciabatta toast: RM10

I like how the eggs aren't entirely dry. I like my eggs to be slightly gooey cause if it's too dry, it tastes like paper. So this was good for me. The toast was soft and blended well with the eggs. I'm not sure if they have dry toast? Maybe that'll be better, idk. It depends on what kind of eggs and toast you like la. I'm glad they didn't add anything else so that I can add salt and pepper to my taste.

Iced Turkish Apple Mint Tea: RM10

This was an interesting drink. I simply chose the longest name from the list because I wanted to try something different from my usual iced chocolate/mocha. And I loved this! I'm sure it's not for everyone, but if you like apples, and mint tea, definitely try this! I like the apple slices (ate them all) and the drink has this interesting minty, slightly crisp flavour to it that grows on you the more you drink. :D

Oh and there's also iced chocolate (RM12) for B who drank it before I could stop him to take a picture lolz. There's vanilla ice cream on top that tasted really well with the chocolate at the bottom. B loved it; it was "one of the best iced chocolate" he drank before (he eats out a lot). So for chocolate lovers like me, try this!

Rocky road bar
For dessert we had a Rocky Road Bar: RM12

Tiny, soft marshmallows covered in chocolate and held together by chocolate crisps sit on top of a dry, nutty layer of chocolate cake. I kinda like it cause it's both hard and soft at the same time, aptly named "rocky road" to perhaps symbolise the ups and downs of life? :3

I really like the food here, and the service was good as there are always waiters around to assist. Food was served quickly even though the place was full (with waiting list somemore)! We went on a Sunday afternoon, so probably they'll have less people on weekdays. Was a bit too noisy with so many people, but overall the experience was decent cause the food is actually nice.

Revisit? Yep!

BFFs-Infused Weekend // The Library Coffee Bar // Tansan Hair Wash // KL Bird Park // Cook For Needy

I love weekends.

But I love weekends with best friends even more. Especially when they came all the way to KL to see me <3
I super appreciate la okay! :D

JM has been planning this for ages and ages ago (I think even before I actually came to KL lolol) and at first she wanted to come by herself, but then she asked three others and one of them, YP end up coming with her. The other two got uni interview/college stuff/parents don't let/ kltoodangerousyouwillgetkidnappedandrobbedandrapedandmurderedanddismemberedyaddayadda
so they couldn't come.

To the klistoofuckingdangerous one <<< I would have bloody died ten months ago if it's as made up as it is. It's not South America. It's not South Africa (wait why are all the southern countries dangerous?). It's not even frigging NYC. It's KL. Okay. It's pretty safe if you take care of yourself. Like be on the alert of your surroundings, don't go close to suspicious humans, have your belongings close to you and away from public eyes, be in large crowds and don't walk in isolated areas blablabla. If you aren't careful, you'll get kidnappedandrobbedandrapedandmurdered in goddamn 5 minutes out of your own house.

LOL YP.
One selfie. One.
Anyway. I bought the bus tickets for them and posted it by poslaju (lololol) because it's cheaper with student cards. There was a scare when JM didn't receive the package over the weekend until we found out that it was posted on Monday zz. Things were okay after that and I picked them up right in front of my college, pretty cool right! After a shower we had some waffles and then we headed to KLCC.

Bought books at Kinokuniya (I finally got the Bio study guide!! Have been waiting since a few months ago) using the BR1M book vouchers. I only bought one but Blyan took RM100 off me + his own RM250 vouchers to buy like 6 books lolz. JM got two books. She took forever to choose because Kino is so big .__.

We then had pepper lunch for dinner (lolol) and then went out to watch the musical rainbow lights fountain. I love it when the water jets shoots up and that moment when they all fall back down. We talked for a bit, but idk what to say much cause there's nothing to say.

Don't mind her LOL.

Blyan and me! We're doing Camus for World Lit.
Damn blur pic I know but it's the best one already.

Back home we played UNO cards and the wood tower in a very retarded way and kept rofl-ing because it was just so lame and funny. Especially during the UNO cards when two of us kept trying to stop the third one from winning the game by cheating and making her draw more cards. So the game never ended lolz.

JM then checked her interview schedules and found out that she had to take a midnight bus from Kedah to Kelantan, then her parents called her to return on Sunday to talk about it (even though the interviews are going to be held next week). But YP wanted to go to Smiling Tummies (a cooking for needy project) which held on Sunday afternoon, and JM wanted to go home Sunday morning. The case was unresolved.

Pro right? HAHAHA
On Saturday morning JM and I visited Number76 again. I introduced her there cause I wanted her to experience the treatments. It's her birthday month so one of the treatments is free. And I get a 20% off from my Luminogenic treatment for referring a friend. Personally I didn't think much of the Lumi treatment cause the products can be purchased and treatment done at home, but I wanted to try. All in all it was not bad but I would rather do it at home next time. However, the Lumi treatment includes a Tansan hair wash (which is a must-try!) so I'm still relatively happy.

Tansan works by combining CO2 and soda into water which sprays over your scalp and hair at a high jet-speed to effectively remove all dust, dirt, chemicals, excess oils etc from your hair. You cannot do this at home cause they use a special machine to produce the treated water. So I think it is more worth the money that I paid for la. And for RM10 extra you get a scalp treatment as well which involves conditioning your scalp with a cooling conditioner that makes it feel fresh and very clean. :)
*I didn't take a photo of the ewwity water that the assistant will show you in a clear glass after the wash, but you can google and find out as many bloggers put up photos of their ew water from their hair lol.

Okay TWO selfies. ._.

I really really like the Tansan hair wash as it does make me feel very clean. :) and I also think that my stylist, Ryoko, is adorable!

After the salon we had "lunch" at The Library Coffee Bar. I had the hot waffles, grilled chicken one. JM had the cold waffle with one scoop ice-cream and YP had the salmon breakfast thingy. We also had caffe mocha. The hot waffles was just okay, nothing special.

I like the ambient, but the place is too small. The lighting is slightly too dark for actual reading, the books too few and none of interest to me (it's more like a bunch of random donated charity books) and the food is just okay. Also the burger place next door is frigging noisy and I wished the walls are soundproof. Would I go back again? Maybe. I'd like to try the cold waffles, but I'll prolly go back like 7pm that time because it's said to be quieter.

Then we spent the whole day walking through KL streets, from KLCC to Pavillion to Sungei Wang to Times Square. I've done it before so it's not that much fun for me (plus I don't like walking too long) but we had to look for the piano stairs that I promised JM lol so we went all the way to Times Square. And we even met Nic who was there for the arcade lololol. So we went to the arcade and watch them play jubeat and maimai. :3 And I get to play Take My Way on jubeat! :D I'm hopelessly obsessed with that song right now.

No she's not grumpy, it's just face problem.

Walked all the way back to Pavillion to eat ramen for dinner. Didn't like the food much but the curry was nice (cause got rice, got curry, got fried pork...cina much haha). B belanja everyone even though he no cash zz lol. So typical right.

Fish fight back home!

Sunday morning woke up earlier because we had a tighter schedule. First up is the KL bird park which YP is looking forward to quite a lot. I brought Desmond (the Canon 60D, not a real guy) so we had nice pictures. B couldn't come so we had to take pics ourselves. The birds were the same as when I saw them like ten months ago lol. They fed the fish, fed the birds, fed the ostriches, witnessed hornbill feeding, watched a bird show and then it rained. .___. didn't bring the huge umbrella out (which covered all three of us the previous day) so YP and I were soaked lul.

Coming up are some pictures taken with Desmond~

HAHA
Getting excited at a peacock

Feeding the lorries
YP is a bit scared haha
Smart way to eat a sunflower seed

LOL

No edits. I think Desmond idolises me LOL. Since when my complexion this good.

Idk what I'm doing. Short legs. :(

Bad lighting but I like the waterfall.

HAHAHA the 90 degrees leg pose.
We gonna feed the fish! :D

Hornbill feeding!
The sleepy owl.
The owl awakens. This was the one I had a photo with back then.
Snoring owl.
Peacocks do not eat like a lady :O
Fish feeding!

Le majestic bird.
Bird show!
One patriotic bird
LOL the motion blur in this picture
Wheee!
I'm gonna put this here....
I am an environmental-conscious bird.
Ate bread to delay hunger because we didn't have time to go for lunch. Picked B up and hopped into a taxi to the Buddhist temple where the cooking for needy activity was held. This time we cut cucumbers, cooked lots of rice, washed cabbages and packed the food. I tried letting JM and YP do as much as possible cause B and I can come back every week. It was quite fun cause there weren't many people around so we get to do quite many jobs.

Yay we're done! Look at all the food!
JM braided my hair while we were waiting for the rice to cook. :D
So pretty right. Idk how to braid my own hair. :(
After packing the food, we left for KL Sentral where we had a really late lunch and saw JM and YP off. It was a bit sad cause I'm the one left behind :/ and there's this empty feeling because I have nothing to do again .___.
Oh well.

I'm glad everything went well. I didn't plan much cause I wanted more flexibility in the time and schedules. :) Love you guys! Hope you had a great time too and visit me again! Haha.
